Diving into the problem, the concept of resumes have been here for decades in all fields. Building one on a word processor and then printing it was one of the daunting tasks I did when I was in college and I was scared mine was not catchy enough or complete even.
Now after 20 years. I am still seeing PDFs uploading, PDFs inferred by AI to understand if a user can moved forward or not. Still a file or a document.
One reason being privacy, people are more comfortable to know that their file is owned by only them and cannot be accessed by someone who they are not ready to see.
Understanding privacy was one of the first goals of solving an online resume. Having an online presence is not new to anyone anymore, everyone has an online presence. But when it to their professional accomplishments people tend to be more private.
Making an online resume has to be able to do the following to cater to the different demographics.
Candidate who is not actively seeking.
Candidate who is actively seeking but want to remain anonymous to all but to a specific set of opportunities.
Candidate who is actively seeking and wants their resume to be public.
Wow, Nice Concept! I loved it.
